Proof of vaccination requirement changes

Based on changes to the Provincial regulations, the requirements to enter recreation facilities have been changed:

  1. Effective December 20, 2021, proof of vaccination is required for youth aged 12 years and older participating in organized sports and drop-in sports at recreation facilities. All recreation facilities are now equipped to scan your Verify Ontario QR codes and check identification (those aged 17 years or younger can show photocopies of identification) at the door.
    1. Individuals will not be subject to the updated vaccine requirements until they are 12 years and 12 weeks.
  2. Effective January 4, 2022, enhanced vaccine and exemption certificates with the QR code are required when entering recreation facilities. You can download your easy to access QR code on the provincial website.
  3. Medical exemptions and clinical trial exemptions are required to verify using a certificate with a QR code. Starting January 10, 2022, physician notes are no longer accepted.

Entering Recreation Facilities

Every time before entering recreation facilities, individuals must be prepared with the following:

  1. Everyone aged 12 years and older must show proof of vaccination and government issued identification.
  2. One member of each family (an adult where one is attendance) will sign their contact information and phone number for the purpose of contact tracing.

It is the responsibility of the individual or adult of the youth to ensure they have their QR code and identification prior to entering recreation facilities. Not being aware of these changes or not having these items will result in denied entry.

Impacts to Recreation Programs

If you are unable to attend an organized sport or drop in program due to the vaccination requirements, please call 519-837-5699 or email recreation@guelph.ca to cancel your enrollment.
